Teasley will kick off Black History Month on February 1st!

Teachers and staff will be doing door decorating to highlight the month.

PTA is organizing and sponsoring an Art and Essay Contest for ALL Teasley students. As Teasley celebrates National Black History Month, students are challenged to think about the achievements of African Americans, how those achievements changed history, and our everyday modern lives. Use this time as an opportunity to reflect on how their contributions have positively impacted American history. Don’t limit your thinking to just key people, but review the collective history holistically. Be prepared to think outside of the box!

Three winners from each grade will present their art or read their essay on the morning news and receive a prize! Students are encouraged to have multiple submissions.

Essays should have a defined subject, clear and concise explanation of how their subject has impacted  history, supported opinions, strong organization, careful editing, and effectively end with a concluding statement.
  • Grades K-2 write an essay 50-150 words.
  • Grades 3-5 write an essay 100- 200 words.
Art projects should have a defined subject, convey or show how their subject impacted history, be fully completed and refined, and use unique artistic principles to showcase the subject.

Submissions can easily be made by clicking the button below and completing the Google Form. If needed, the student may hand in their essays or art projects to their teachers.
